The 48th Edition of Satyrykon Is Almost Here!

This year, Legnica’s most joyful festival returns for the weekend of June 13–15! As always, we’re in for a wave of emotions thanks to the Satyrykon 2025 International Exhibition, hosted at the Copper Museum, featuring 100 of the best works selected by an international jury and showcasing the latest achievements in the field of satire. But that’s just the beginning — we’ll also invite you to other extraordinary events: the opening of the “Sketch Has Power 2025” exhibition and an award ceremony for the winners of the fifth sketchbook competition at the Ring Gallery; a special 15th-anniversary exhibition at the Satyrykon Gallery; and “Ha-Ga in Color”, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the death of Hanna Gosławska-Lipińska, hosted in the foyer of the Modrzejewska Theatre. Additional festival highlights include concerts by Katarzyna Nosowska and Błażej Król, as well as a performance by Tymon Tymański with his “Republikacje” project featuring the greatest hits of Grzegorz Ciechowski’s band.

Satyrykon International Exhibition – Legnica 2025

Location: Copper Museum, ul. św. Jana 1
Dates: June 5 – September 7, 2025
Official opening and awards ceremony: June 13, 5:30 PM

Satyrykon is one of the world’s most important satire competitions, with a history spanning nearly 50 years. The 2025 edition drew over 3,000 entries from around the globe, covering a wide range of themes, techniques, and artistic languages. What unites these works is their extraordinary ability to comment on reality with humor, insight, and a deeply human perspective.
The exhibition at the Copper Museum in Legnica is not only a display of the finest contest entries — it’s a powerful reflection of current social moods and the universal dilemmas facing contemporary humanity. The winning pieces, often small in size, carry immense impact — making us laugh, reflect, and sometimes question the world around us.

Sketch is Powerfull 2025

Location: Ring Gallery, Rynek 12
Dates: June 12 – August 31, 2025
Opening and awards ceremony: June 13, 6:30 PM

The Sketch Has Power exhibition is dedicated to sketchbook art — a form often overlooked in mainstream exhibitions. A sketchbook is a unique space: filled with personal notes, loose ideas, and first concepts that can be more honest and intimate than finished works.
The pieces on display at Ring Gallery highlight diverse approaches: from obsessively repeated motifs, through expressive spontaneity, to delicate and careful linework. This is a rare chance to peer into the creative minds of artists — work that’s raw, authentic, and unconstrained by expectations.
The exhibition raises questions about what art is in its purest form and how an individual creative voice takes shape.

15 Years of the Satyrykon Gallery

Location: Satyrykon Gallery, Rynek 36
Dates: June 10 – August 30, 2025
Anniversary exhibition opening: June 14, 6:00 PM

The Satyrykon Gallery has been inseparable from the International Satyrykon Exhibition since its opening in 2010. Over the past 15 years, it has become a space for showcasing the most fascinating trends in illustration, satire, and drawing.
The anniversary exhibition features highlights from its history — from early shows, through exhibitions of contest winners, to solo presentations of both acclaimed and emerging artists. It’s a place where art reflects reality with humor, distance, and sensitivity.
Among the presented series are “Encounters with Illustration”, “Best Satyrykon Debut”, and “Hello, This is Art”. Accompanied by catalogs and author talks, the gallery has cemented its place as a key promoter of artistic drawing in Poland.

Ha-Ga in Color

Location: Modrzejewska Theatre, Rynek 39
Dates: June 7 – September 30, 2025
Exhibition opening: June 14, 5:00 PM

Ha-Ga — Anna Gosławska-Lipińska (1915–1975) — was one of the most important figures in the history of Polish satire. As one of the first women active in this field, she gained wide popularity before World War II, with her drawings appearing for decades in publications such as Szpilki magazine.
Ha-Ga in Color presents a retrospective selection of her works — from classic press cartoons and cover designs to book illustrations. Her distinctive style featured subtle, everyday scenes in which dialogue and drawing formed an inseparable whole.
This exhibition is both artistic and educational, highlighting the contributions of women to satire and illustration in Poland and reviving the memory of an artist whose work helped shape Polish humor. The show is accompanied by a catalog containing previously unpublished works from Ha-Ga’s daughter’s private collection.

Satyrykon Parade and Commemorative Plaque for Piotr Gawron

Date: June 14, 2025 (Saturday), 4:30 PM
Start: ul. Najświętszej Marii Panny

The traditional Satyrykon Parade is a vibrant, energetic celebration that draws locals and festival guests each year. The streets of Legnica come alive with music, street art, improvisation, and joy, capturing the unique spirit of Satyrykon — a festival of humor, reflection, and creative freedom.
This year’s parade holds special significance: its finale will feature the unveiling of a commemorative plaque honoring Piotr Gawron, an outstanding sculptor and medal artist deeply connected to Satyrykon.
Gawron (1952–2022) designed the expressive, subtle, and instantly recognizable medals awarded to competition winners — pieces that became one of the festival’s key symbols.
The plaque will be installed near the statue of Filip, a space that commemorates prominent figures in the world of satire. The ceremony will be both a tribute to a great artist and a reminder of the vital role played by behind-the-scenes creators — those who help build the festival’s identity, often without seeking the spotlight.
The parade will feature artists, Legnica residents, volunteers, and cultural animators — all those for whom Satyrykon is not just a festival, but a way of seeing the world: with perspective, courage, and a smile.
